HRH Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the former King of Saudi Arabia, was first and foremost a mild and caring man who was sincerely committed to improving the lives of his subjects and many other people around the world.

A Man of Heart
The King’s philanthropic activities were diverse and his generosity legendary among other global donors and the beneficiaries alike. During his reign as king, Abdullah bid Abdulaziz al Saud gave away billions of dollars in charity with a vast endowment in a platform for world-class higher education and research in the form of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and substantial donations towards world natural disaster and hunger relief through the United Nations food and refugee assistance programs, as well as, through private donations in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

The life of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud cannot be separated from that of his people. He devoted his existence to the service of his country, the Islamic and Arab nation, and humanity as a whole.
His devotion now lives on through the King Abdullah Foundation.
The Foundation, based in Riyadh, was established by Royal Order No. A/143, dated 2011 (1431 H), and is an independent, international institution, which will sustain the King’s vision and values – his vision for a better world – based on the values he espoused of justice, tolerance, virtue, and peace.
